In MT there's a bit ('ok to mqtt') which means the user has granted that his data (nodeinfo, position, messages) are allowed to be gated to to foreign networks like the internet.
Unfortunately, MC has'nt that feature. This leads regulary to discussions if i.E. projects like 'observer' are conform to gdpr.
And some repeater sysops configure a special utf-symbol (no parking) for signaling that their position must not be displayed on internet maps. This is an ugly workaround.
My opinion is:
repeaters are of public interest and the default setting for the bit for gating to foreign networks could be set to 1.
companion firmware should have a preset 0 for strengthen the personal rights from start.
Perhaps a bit more fine granular:
0x00 don,t gate
0x01 gate name and position
0x10 gate name and channel messages
0x11 gate name and position and channel messages
