operations on remote file (webdav) block sourceview

What Happened?

We are editing files on a remote server mounted with webdav

Text inputs or even just cursor moving has the sourceview freezing for a couple seconds on a regular basis, i assume as it interacts with the remote server (it does not seem to be saving though). It makes Code fairly unusable alas, because navigating or typing become very choppy.

Save operations (Ctrl+S) has the sourceview freezing

VS Code, as opposed, only freezes up during open operations. It does not seem to freeze during save

Steps to Reproduce

open remote file with Code. Use a remote maybe somewhat slow?
move around with arrow keys, click around text, type, save

Expected Behavior

Non-choppy Sourceview, even when saving, such as for VS Code. Maybe by working on a cache, and having an async send an updated version to remote?

Code is not really designed to work with a remote folder - at least some features like auto-save and auto removal of trailing blanks might not work well. You could try switching these plugins off. You are right, maybe VSCode downloads a local copy and works with that then uploads on saving? I think this the only way to be sure of a stable fast connection to the document. As a workaround you can do this manually of course.
