Description
I didn't want to clutter the PR (#257) with requests for updates, but I think there is now a countdown timer.
I, like many others I imagine, received an email today (2026-02-11) from AWS Health "[Action Required] AWS Lambda end of support for OS-only Runtime for Amazon Linux 2 (provided.al2)" which affects several lambdas associated with a Laravel project I deploy w Bref. The salient detail from the email is
We are ending support for the OS-only runtime for Amazon Linux 2 (provided.al2) in Lambda on July 31, 2026. This follows Amazon Linux 2 End-Of-Life (EOL) on June 30, 2026 [1]. End of support does not impact function execution. Your functions will continue to run. However, they will be running on an unsupported runtime which is no longer maintained or patched by the AWS Lambda team.
There is plenty of time remedy this before July 31, and Bref 3 is obviously in progress, but there's no mention of Bref 3 on the main Bref website, much less details about upgrading.
The most important question is - is Bref 3 on track to be finished before July 31, 2026? Ideally, end users should have some time to test the upgrade and make changes, so I'd like to see Bref 3 released by May or June at the latest. Is that possible? Any status update would be very helpful now.
Thanks
